Back to Earth would become the last Cat Stevens album for almost 30 years. The album marks the end of one era and the birth of another. It was recorded once Cat had already made his decision to leave stardom and the music industry in favour of a more meaningful and 'down to earth' existence. The deep introspection of this transition is reflected in Back To Earth's sombre beauty.
